[Defconapi] How about a nice game of chess?

Hi everyone, just joined the list and have been fiddling with the C++
simplebot tonight to get my feet wet and figure out whether I've got
the motivation to follow through on a new hobby project. I sure
appreciate all the work that's gone into making this API available
though, and I hope to have something cool to show off eventually.
Little bit about me, I'm a professional game developer in Seattle with
a B.S. in C.S. from the University of Washington (2003). I work for
Flying Lab Software on an MMO title called Pirates of the Burning Sea.
Pirates is great fun to work on, but of course in a professional
environment we must be slaves to schedules and release cycles and
legacy code and so on. So I like the prospect of working on a little
something that's just my own sandbox to kick around in :).
By chance, any burners out there? The apocalyptic-ironic aesthetic of
Defcon seems very fitting to the Burning Man crowd; after seeing the
giant Tetris setup in the middle of the playa last year, I'm thinking
what a cool art project it'd be to code up some competing Defcon bots
and have them "nuke it out" on a big screen for all to see. This
year's theme is evolution, so maybe I should focus on genetic
algorithms ;)
Alright, that'll do for now! Hopefully I'll find the time and have
more to say in the not-too-distant future!
Cheers,
Luke
